India Summer 2016: Day 7 – Hospitals and Health Care in Chennai
In 2016 we are leading 4 high school summer trips. You can read all about our Global Innovators trips or get in touch to ask us any questions about the programs. Our 2016 India trip focuses on global healthcare, technology, and innovation. During the trip, students take turns writing a daily blog post to describe their project process and exploration, follow along here.
The focus of our day today was to explore what a major hospital in India was like. In the morning we had a tour and talk with the chairman at The Apollo Hospital in Chennai. The visit was great and it was extremely cool seeing the innovation in the hospitals in India. After the visit, we took a flight back to Bangalore.
Visiting the hospital today was very beneficial to our project because now we have a sense of how the hospitals work in India and how accessible the hospital is to the citizens. Something that was really surprising was how much the The Apollo hospital cared about their costumer service. For example during the tour, the chairman showed us a room where they watch what the activity at front desks is, and if they see a a patient waiting too long, they will call the front desk to make sure they get to that person ASAP.
