Croatia 2016: Day 5 – Researching Badija

In 2016 we are leading 4 high school summer trips. You can read all about our Global Innovators trips or get in touch to ask us any questions about the programs. Our 2016 Croatia trip focuses on sustainable development and small business in the country. During the trip, students take turns writing a daily blog post to describe their project process and exploration, follow along here.

Today we began the morning by cooking breakfast in the kitchen of our apartment complex in where we stay in the Croatian island of Korcula. After the group finished breakfast we set off on our adventure to the island of Badija.

Before our adventure started, we met British John outside of the rental service where we rented kayaks to transport us to Badija. During our kayak trip to Badija, you can see the colorful beauties that the country has to offer such as the ocean, wildlife, and vegetation. It was also fun as a group splashing ourselves while taking in the gorgeous visuals on the water.

A new idea that occured to me today: the stable comfort of originality on Badija. For example, there is more to the island than just placing a hotel/resort on it. It’s the simplicity of the plain and historic feeling that flows through the souls of tourists and locals.
